From Her Heart

I wish you could see the world through my eyes,
Where every step is measured and every word is scrutinized.
I wear a mask of strength, but inside, I tremble,
Caught between who I am and who I want to resemble.

I love you deeply, but sometimes I fear to express.
The world is watching, judging, and always near.
When we’re together, I just want to be free,
But I am torn between my love for you and what others may think.

I want to hold your hand, not hide it away,
I want to shout “I love you” and make the world okay.
But someone taught me to stay quiet and control my emotions.
And when I fall for you, I wonder if I’ll ever regret it.

You make me feel safe; you make me feel seen,
You are making efforts, standing by my side,
And I wish I could be the same for you, with no place to hide,
But sometimes, I fail you and I let you down,
Not because I want to, but because I don’t know
how to unlearn this crown of a good girl.

I want to be a person who supports you loud and unbowed.
But sometimes, I get lost in my own thoughts,
I question my worth in your eyes.

I know I can’t be the perfect girlfriend,
I won’t always get it right, I can’t pretend.
There will be times when I fall short,
But I always try not to break your heart.
